Texting & driving, not worth risk

textinganddrivingnotworthyourlife5410I was on my way to work last week, and the car in front of me kept swerving over the shoulder, almost hitting the median each time. After about the third time, I decided my safety was in jeopardy, so I passed this crazy driver. As I passed this maniac, I looked over to see who they could possibly be, and low and behold it was a young girl, probably 17 or 18, who was texting.

Now I’m like your average teenager. I text. I drive. But never both at the same time. Recently, I have witnessed a couple very moving commercials on TV that show the last texts a teenager received on their phone before they were killed in a car accident, because they were texting and driving. Some of examples of these texts are: “Wht u doin tonite?”, “Why?”, and “we’ll hang out latur!” Are any of these texts worth your life?

Here is a website that shows similar cases of teens getting killed from texting and driving. All show kids in high school that feel their social life is more important than their real life, and the other peoples’ lives around them. Teens are just too immature to realize how easy it is lose control of your car just from a split second of distraction. Teen drivers think cars are just toys, that they can have fun in to drive around, but really cars are capable of killing people.

Millions everyday. How would you feel if you killed someone because you were paying more attention to your text message, rather than your driving? How would you feel if you were the person who sent the text that killed your friend? Ask yourself…Is it worth it?
