13 things to do over summer

d8qgjvc_46dzt2rsd9_b1. Go try FroYo on the loop. It’s delicious, good for you and it comes in TONS of different flavors.

2. Go Camping. There’s tons of places to camp around the St. Louis area, even if it’s just in your own backyard. Take some friends for a long weekend and do the ‘classic’ camping things; roast marshmallows, take a hike, fish, and sleep under the stars.

3. Have a Photo Shoot on the River Front with all your friends. This is a great free activity for those of us who get bored easily but find that our wallets are very bare. Plus, you can show off your afternoon on the River Front on Facebook.

4. Have a ‘staycation’ with your family and plan out fun activities. “There is an endless amount of fun running through a sprinkler, acting like you’re five again, when you’re really 17,” Kristen Boiles said.

5. Play in the sprinkler. We all used to do this as kids, and what’s better than getting in touch with our inner child?

6. Host a Scavenger Hunt around St. Charles/St. Peters. We all have a small competitive side to us, and a little competition is good for us every now and then. This is your chance to have a showdown with all your friends and make some great memories. “They’re a lot of fun because it’s a great way to hang out with your friends and it’s out of the ordinary,” junior, Chelsea Norman said.

7. Spend a whole day doing things you’ve never done before. Audrey Hepburn did it in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’, and whatever Audrey approves of must be good.

8. Have a movie marathon with your friends on rainy days. Who doesn’t love a good Disney or James Bond marathon?

9. Spend a whole day by the pool tanning and swimming. Just remember to use sunscreen and keep reapplying it after you get out of the water.

10. Volunteer around the community. You will be helping your home and you will feel like you’ve accomplished something this summer instead of saying that you just sat around and did nothing.

11. Start a Dog-Walking business. This will earn you some extra money and your hours will be flexible so you won’t miss out on anything you really want to do.

12. Lay under the stars and try to name the constellations. This is really fun to do on a clear night and if you get your significant other or some friends to do it with you, you all can even make up your own constellations and enjoy a night of fun and maybe increase your intelligence.

13. Plant a garden filled with your favorite flowers. Tending to a garden is a great way to have some ‘me time’ and it relieves stress. If you have a mom or sibling who likes to plant things, have them help you and it can be a way to spend time together during your busy summer schedule.
