School Closed For Professional Development

On September 21 while students were at home sleeping in their beds, teachers were arriving at FHN for a mandatory PD meeting.

“Every FHN certified teacher is supposed to attend,” said Tracy Wuertenberg.

Building administration typically organizes these meetings once a month. The location of these meetings vary but this meeting was held in the commons of FHN. At the meeting there was a guest speaker named Dr. Anne Faber who gave a presentation on vocabulary.

“This is the first time we have ever had the topic of vocab, so time will tell how effective it is,” said Wuertenberg.

While attending these meetings teachers have a presentation, time to practice what they have learned, ask questions, and sometimes even have homework. Through the meetings teachers learn new ideas and techniques to try in their classrooms.

“Every meeting is about helping students learn better tools and strategies to make that happen,” said Wuertenberg.
