Prom Date for 2015 Scheduled

Due to booking issues, FHN had to have a later than usual prom this year. That will be different next year though, because last week, next year’s  Prom date was scheduled, and Prom will take place on May

2nd, 2015. Marissa Cohen, Junior class delegate supervisor, helps the delegates in planning and organizing school functions. Prom is one of the many highlights of the school year and quite a lot of work is put into it.

With decoration, a DJ and door gifts, its expected to cost a bit. “It costs a ridiculous amount of money, well over $20,000.” says Cohen. Although prom is a bit outrageous in price, it’s attendees pay a bit as well. To buy two tickets, the price could potentially be $140, and that doesn’t even include attire and other costs.

This year’s theme is the Great Gatsby. There are some planned surprises in store for prom-goers this year.

“Since there’s a new group planning and attending, we could expect some fresh ideas.” says Cohen

It takes practically a full year to plan prom completely, which is why Delegates book the St. Charles Convention Center, where prom is held, so early in advance. Without early booking, Prom would have to have be at a later date. Later proms can have scheduling issues with sports, end of year performances and even graduation. Some of those problems could come up with this year’s Prom, because it was booked a little later than usual. This year’s date is set for later than FHHS’s and FHC’s proms, which take place about two weeks before FHN’s.
