Dear Francis Howell District Parents,
Your student will be participating in the Missouri Assessment Program End-of-Course (EOC) standardized testing this year.  These assessments are administered to public school students in the state of Missouri each spring, and are used to measure the effectiveness of academic programs provided in school districts throughout the state.  Each school is responsible for establishing a testing schedule within this testing window and communicating it to stakeholders.  This year, testing will begin April 16 and will be completed by May 6, 2014.  All assessments are online.
End of Course testing is mandatory at all levels in the content areas of Communication Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. The table below indicates the EOC content areas tested.

You can help to prepare your student for testing in several important ways.  First of all, please make every effort to ensure that your student is in attendance on the days the tests are administered so that he/she takes the tests under the most optimum conditions.  Secondly, please make sure that your student gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast before coming to school so that he/she is both mentally and physically alert during testing. Finally, and most importantly, please encourage your child to put his/her best effort into the test so that the information gained is an accurate reflection of your child’s achievement.

The results gathered from these tests are critical measures of the district’s effectiveness in educating our students.  These results are used at the district and building levels to evaluate program effectiveness, determine areas of instructional focus and prioritize instructional resources for school improvement planning. Test results will be available to parents before the end of this school year.

Our students have demonstrated consistent growth over the past several years. We are very proud of the efforts of our students, parents and teachers in sustaining this positive trend and we look forward to another year of increased improvement as we begin the 2014 testing window.  Thank you for supporting your student during this year’s testing. 5/6 Downs

Prom table forms are now available outside room 8 in the folder. Please return completed forms no later than Tuesday, May 6th. If you do not sign up for a table, one will be chosen for you! If you have any questions, please see Ms. Cohen in room 8. 5/6 Cohen
