This year a new twist has been added to spirit week- it’s only four days long. Students will have Friday off because of teacher meetings. Due to the four-day week, the spirit days have changed from the norm. Spirit week is Sept. 14-17, leading up to homecoming on Sept. 19.

“I thought it was really cool how they gave the student body a say in what the days were on Snapchat,” senior Madison Ritter said. “It’s something that affects all of us, so it’s cool that we got to have a voice.”

StuCo members junior Grant Freitas and junior Sydney Weber were in charge of spirit days for homecoming week. To generate original ideas, Stuco had a meeting where members just listed off their ideas for the days. Weber then posted a poll on the FHNtoday Snapchat, which allowed students to screenshot their favorite days. There was also a poll available to students on Twitter. Weber and Freitas took the results from the Snapchat poll and added them to StuCo’s votes to generate a final list.

“I personally don’t like that it’s only a four-day week,” senior Kristen Metts said. “It takes a day out of the week that everyone loves, but it’s good for StuCo because we have an extra day to decorate.”

Due to the four-day week, Black and Gold/Senior Toga Day had to be moved to Tuesday, opposed to the usual when it’s the day before Class Colors Day. StuCo couldn’t do Toga Day on Wednesday because the Powderpuff game is on Wednesday, and players get to wear their jerseys to school that day. Class Colors day now lands on Thursday, the last day of spirit week, and the pep assembly will be that day.

“I think around the world is creative because it matches our homecoming theme,” Metts said. “You can wear pretty much whatever you want.”
