Car Talk: Weekly Automotive Highlights 12-11

By Martin Groves

There have been no new car reveals from major automakers this week, but there have been some major announcements during the week of 12-11.

  1. Porsche has announced that it has beaten its previous annual sales record. From Jan. to Nov. 2015, the German automaker sold 209,894 vehicles globally, the first time it has surpassed the 200,000 mark, all still with a month to spare until the end of the year.
  2. Former CEO of the now defunct Fisker Automotive, Henrik Fisker, has revealed his new $300,000 supercar, the Force 1. Although the front and rear ends looks similar to what you would see on a Ford Mustang, the similarities end there. Reportedly up to 50 units will be made in Michigan starting in Apr. 2016, assuming production even begins.
  3. Production of the McLaren P1 has officially ceased, with the 375th and final example rolling off the production line just days ago at the McLaren Production Center in Woking, UK.
