Football has never been an easy sport to win. The blood, sweat, and tears that go into this sport are impeccable. All these boys have wanted is to win and have fun. The freshman football game on Sept. 22 showed that the freshman boys have some work to do. Howell beat the knights in an unfortunate game. The boys lost 6 – 42 at Francis Howell.

“Defensively we were ready to play, offensively we played scared and timid” said Coach VonFeldt.

Coach thinks the boys need to improve on working together on offense. Coach also knows that Howell is a well rounded football team and the boys just need to forget about the game and get their heads straight for the next one. “I tried to get them to forget about the score and power through and keep going” said freshman quarterback Patrick Koester.

Freshman Reece Hughes was very excited about his pass to Cameron Lewis who threw to quarterback Koester that resulted in a touchdown. The boys know that Howell is a very difficult team to beat but they also know that it’s not impossible to score against them when they are working well together offensively and defensively. Coach thinks the boys need to work on executing the plays well just like they had practiced.
After Hughes had thrown the ball to Koester he claimed to feel more confident about how he was playing. “ I put so much energy into my game, and i felt stunned and more confident” said Hughes. The boys do not plan on giving up anytime soon. They will use this game as motivation to make a comeback and hopefully beat Howell in the future. “We need to work more as a unit” said Cameron Lewis. No one knows what the future holds for this team only they can work to get where they want.
