The previous plans to hold graduation at the Family Arena were scratched after a EF3 tornado damaged the arena the night before the ceremony. Residents of St. Charles County were shaken during a thunderstorm and tornado, during the evening of May 30. The storm swept through the Harvester area around 8 p.m. knocking down trees and powerlines. An estimated 100,000 residents are without power as of 10 a.m. Saturday. Boy’s Tennis Ends Strong
The boy’s tennis team ended the season with team sectionals on May 18th. The Knights faced Hannibal in their first match and won 5-3. By beating Hannibal, they were ranked in the top eight in the state. However, the team lost 3-5 to Parkway Central and did not qualify for state. Knights Lose in District Championship
Varsity Baseball defeated Fort Zumwalt North and South in the District tournament to earn a spot in the Championship game against Fort Zumwalt West on May 15. With the season on the line, the Knights put junior Tyler Ferguson on the mound. In the first three innings, the Knights committed three errors and gave up five runs but were able to get a run of their own with an RBI sac-fly from sophomore Steven Deckard. Senior boy Volleyball players step out onto the court for the last time on Senior Night
On May 7, the boy’s Varsity Volleyball team celebrated Senior Night. Before the game, all Senior players and managers were recognized. Senior players included Captains Mark Reichert and Jason Barth, and Jake Tecklenburg. Senior managers included Meghan Wood and Maddie Eifert. “Foods” classes cook one last time
Last week, the International Foods 2 and Culinary Arts teacher, Rebecca Just, who has worked at FHN for sixteen years, had her students decorate cakes. This week, the students were able to cook one final time, making cinnamon rolls. “There was a cake decorating earlier this week that went went absolutely fantastic,” said Just. KOE Picnic is a big success
The KOE picnic this year made a lot of people happy. The sponsors, organization members, and the students invited to celebrate with the picnic felt that it was a huge success. The weather this year was a toasty 85 degrees, and sunny; which was quite a relief to those in charge of the picnic after the rain cancellation last year. “Kiss a Senior Goodbye” bags available May 13
With graduation rapidly approaching, Senior Delegates will be selling “Kiss A Senior Goodbye” bags May 13 through May 16. The 50 cent bags include a personalized message and Hershey Kisses. “I think it’s a cool idea and gives everyone a chance to say goodbye to their friends,” said junior Tanner Gunnett. Weight Training Work Out [Gif]
On May 21, junior Logan Bergman does his work out in the weight room. His favorite machine is the Cable Pull-Down. This machine works his triceps and helps increase his power on the volleyball court.
