FHNtoday.com is the student news website of FHN Media, the student-run publications department at the Francis Howell North High School. Advised by Aaron Manfull, who oversees the web, newspaper and video staffs, along with Jordyn Kiel, who oversees the yearbook and photography staffs, FHN media has been covering its community through different mediums for over two decades.

With the launch of FHNtoday.com in 2009, the publications staff was presented with a whole new platform to present news to its viewers in a fast, timely matter. From covering bomb threats to school dances, the website has benefitted the staff as a whole in achieving its mission of providing news fast. In 2013, students on staff advocated for a secondary website dedicated to sports coverage. The idea grew and became FHNgameday.com. Providing sports previews and recaps, along with opinion columns and up-to-date sports scores, FHNgameday is an FHN athlete’s paradise.

Released almost every six weeks, depending on the schedule editors set at the beginning of the year, the North Star newsmagazine provides a look at upcoming and recently occurred events around FHN. The North Starstaff also provides a comprehensive overview of different issues surrounding not only the school and community, but the country and even the globe as a whole. During the 2020-2021 school year, the North Star is distributed for free to all students in their first hour.

The Excalibur yearbook is the historical record-keeper for the school. Documenting events as they happen, the yearbook staff compounds small and big events alike into one book which is distributed after production during registration days before the start of the next school year.

FHNtodayTV and photography staffs work with the other three staffs to help provide complete multimedia story packages to help the audience understand the story in multiple ways. Photographers attend school events to document still shots of students being themselves, while the video staff performs the same process in video form. Both of them compile different ways to tell the story to the reader.

All staffs operate out of Rooms 105, 129, 131 and an adjoining conference room. Each staff is also bound to and protected by the Editorial Policy, which governs the way FHN Media can cover and publish using its various mediums.
