On Dec. 1 Knightline competed in their first competition of the year, the Yvonne Kuhl Invitational, at Lindberg High School.
The girls preformed a hip-hop and a pom routine. They failed to place in poms but placed fourth in hip-hop.
“It was a really good learning experience,” sophomore Diedre Meyer said. “We know what kind of teams are out there now.”
The team practiced for about a month in preparation for the event. According to coach Heather Hallvax, the biggest challenge leading up to the competition was just a week before the competition when two dancers, sophomores Jodi Wurm and Ellen Ransom, were in a car accident and couldn’t compete. Knightline had to alter their routines in the days leading up to the event.
“You can tell they worked extremely hard to get these dances down,” Knightline alumna Emma McDaniel said. “I’m impressed that they did two dances and they really worked it out in the hip-hop routine.”
