Brunswik Zone brings family friendly entertainment

One glance around, and you see customers of all ages, team shirts of every color, and arcade games of every genre.

“STRIKE!”
A crash, and the lane is cluttered with pins.
“SCORE!”
A kid gets another target in the arcade.

Where else could you be but Brunswick Zone? From bowling, to laser tag, to company meetings, Brunswick Zone has definitely made it’s mark on St. Peters in the short seven months it’s been open.

When it opened last September, it was joining a long line of Brunswick bowling alleys located in nine different states, including facilities in Valley Park and Chesterfield. Naturally, there were high expectations.

Many say Brunswick Zone St. Peters more than meets those expectations with their extremely clean facility, smoke- free environment, and customer service “that will knock you off your feet.”

“Our customer service is spectacular,” General Manager Don Klackner said. “We’re just very professional, the training of employees is very good. We take the product to the guest instead of them waiting in line, like we take their food and their shoes and everything to them.”

Brunswick has a strict policy that prevents family members from working at the same alley. This is no exception for Klackner’s 17-year-old daughter Jordyn, a junior at North. Because Jordyn is not allowed to work at Brunswick St. Peters, she is currently a party hostess at Brunswick Zone Chesterfield.

Every Brunswick prides itself on its diverse options of activities and the smoke-free environment that includes the bar and billiards.

“Well I think the smoke-free element is very attractive,” Don said, “and the newness and the modern technology, the multiple amenities; bowling, laser tag, food.”

While the St. Peters facility is a Brunswick Zone XL, not all Brunswick Zones are. Service, size, and available activities set apart an XL and a normal Brunswick Zone.

The bowling alley at Brunswick St. Peters is split into two sides. On one side each lane has two couches and a counter filled with it’s own festively colored bowling balls, while the other lanes come equipped with a table and chairs. Dimmed lighting in the arcade sets a mood for the video game fanatics, and an area next to the kitchen is set-aside for eating.

“I really liked the arcade,” sophomore Gabby Moore said. “They had a bunch of new games and they had this Deal or No Deal where you actually got to play for tickets so that was pretty cool.”

Brunswick attracts people for all reasons; birthday parties, family outing, league practice, or just some friends out for a good time. Not only is it a popular place to go, but also job hunters flocked to it before it opened.

“We look for enthusiastic, service oriented people with restaurant and retail experience preferred,” Don said, “and for a lot of people we do hire, it is they’re first job but if they have a great personality and are very enthusiastic, then we’ll hire them and we can train them for the job.”

There was no short supply of applicants when Don was looking to hire employees last year.

“I’ve been working here since it opened,” Customer Service Representative Aaron Gerling said. “I love it because it’s an easy job. I’m up here all the time. Most of the time on my days off I’m up here.”

Brunswick Zone St. Peters has definitely made its mark, introducing the old family-favorite bowling alley to the new day of video games and modern technology.

“Brunswick has been very well received in the community and business has been very good,” Klackner said, “and it’s been a great addition to St. Charles.”
