Seniors women come out on top

Bright lights grazed the fields at 6:30 p.m.; the warm-ups and huddles begin. The fields became crowded with black and white jerseys and the stands became filled with anxious fans.

The stands began to quiet down as the teams began shouting “Oh nine! Oh nine!” and “One oh! One oh!” and the fans quickly joined in. It was obvious that it was going to be an intense game of Powderpuff.
“Powderpuff is two classes committed to a game that separates the girls from the women and the weak from the strong,” senior Whitney Wellington said.
Although some may think girls are too pretty for an occasional throw down on the football field, there are some who don’t mind diving, sliding, and running to represent their class.
“It’s something that shows you have spirit for your class and for the seniors,” senior Melissa Fagan said. “It’s your last year of high school; you should experience it.”
Many may play but some are stronger than others, and their teammates aren’t afraid to give them their spotlight either.
“I think the soccer girls are going to kick butt, since they run fast and everything,” Fagan said laughing
By the end of the game it was beyond intense. The game ended as most expected it would, as the seniors came out on top, 105-91. Due to their hard work on the field, Kaitlyn Fouch and Ashley Walters were crowned the senior defensive and offensive Most Valuable Players, respectively.

“Seniors of 2009 are the best, most memorable class,” Wellington said. “Although juniors may talk, actions speak louder than words.”
