The thing that impressed me most about the event wasn’t the speech itself, but the magnitude and diversity of the crowd. There were approximately 100,000 people there to see Obama. The thing that struck me, was the all around positive vibe that I got from the crowd. There were just random people helping us get a better view. At one point, one of the girls I was with lost her sandal and this guy immediatly grabbed her hand and helped her find her missing sandal. And then he led us to an easier place to walk. Things like that were happening all around us. People helping each other; white, black, young, old, it simply didn’t matter. There was this indescribable feeling of unity in the air.
