Knights end season against rivals

Howell North and Howell Central’s teams took the field at 8 p.m. on Nov. 11 at Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton in the first game of Sectionals.

The ball went back and forth for most of the first half, with two acrobatic saves by senior Eric Stanowski

, one being a dive to his left in which he was parallel to the ground.

Many fans for both sides attended the game with about 80 showing up for each side.

In the second half, the Spartans pushed their front line and scored with about 15 minutes left and would be the determining factor in the game.

In an effort to gain strength offensively, coach Vince Nowak pulled Stanowski from goal and played him as a forward, putting sophomore Logan Ponche in goal.

Although the Knights walked away defeated, they still were crowned District champs about a week before the game, something they haven’t done in two years.
