On Dec. 10 the Varsity and JV wrestling teams left school early to attend a two-day tournament at Parkway South. The Knights placed fourth out of twelve teams. Junior Jeff Shell, senior Alex Cassetta, and sophomore Harold Ritchie earned first place, senior Tyler Lotz placed second and senior Valery Cassetta placed
fourth. Sophomore Tom Foley placed fifth as well as junior Brenton Harms. Sophomores Kyle Griffin and Sam Stewart placed sixth.
“Well, out of the people we had, we wrestled really good,” Jeff Shell said. “We had a good amount of guys get their job done. We were missing Eric Voyles and Jason Shell; we could have done better.”
After their 61-16 loss to Holt, the wrestlers were looking for a strong match.
“The only major thing we did wrong was that we were missing some of our line up,” Head coach Harold Ritchie said. “We had some success this weekend, we just need to build and improve each day.”
The Knights will look to improve their performance at their home opener Dec. 10, where they will face off in a triple dual against Fort Zumwalt West and Timberland. The match starts at 6 p.m.
