Although winter break is a time to relax and have fun for many, the wrestling team continued to prepare for their next big tournament: the GAC tournament.

The GACs took place Jan. 10 at Fort Zumwalt East. The Knights have used numerous tournaments and duals to prepare.

“The team’s looking good,” senior Eric Voyles said. “Practice is pretty focused; everyone stays on task and we almost have a full line-up. We are only missing two people.”

With hard work and dedication the team is almost where head coach Harold Ritchie wants it to be.

“I’m pretty happy right now,” Ritchie said. “We got some of our injured wrestlers back and things are really coming together.”

During winter break the Knights wrestled in the Cape Classic Tournament and a tournament that took place in Granite City. They used these to prepare for GACs.

“We just got to keep doing what we’re doing,” Ritchie said. “We have had a couple of big tournaments to prepare, we have got to look at those. Right now our new guys that we are counting on to look good are looking good, and the good ones that have all been looking good.”
