Outdoor hockey game sure to be ‘classic’

The Knights ice hockey team is playing Oakville on Saturday, Jan. 24 at Shaw Park in Clayton. The game is being held outside along with three other games that day. They are trying something the NHL has been doing the last few seasons: the Winter Classic.

“It will be different and exciting playing outside, especially if it snows,” sophomore right winger Ryan Gannon said.

There is supposed to be a very large attendance and some St. Louis Blues stars may be in attendance. There will be mini games in between the four games, such as younger kids being able to go out on the ice and having fun.

“It is going to make us play that much harder and I’m sure the other team will be playing hard,” junior defenseman Joey Julian said.

The game is at 5:30 p.m. and the weather is sure to play a factor in the game. Julian also said the team hopes there’s snow because they have “never experienced anything like that.”
