On Saturday, Feb. 7, there will be a JV GAC tournament at Wentzville-Holt. There will be multiple teams competing to be on top and win some medals.
“I’m looking to get a medal and go to the finals,” JV wrestler Zach Kneemiller said.
Though the team wants to come out on top, there is one thing that stands in their way. Besides having some new members, they have very few members in their line up to wrestle which limits their opportunity to win.
“This year we have a pretty new JV team,” JV wrestler Shane Conaty said. “We are probably not going to get first, but we’re not going to get last.”
Some of the team members are hoping to beat a couple of teams for bragging rights; Central and Howell are in their sights.
“We are in the same school district,” Conaty said. “We have to do better than them.
This weekend, the Knights hope they can earn some medals at the GACs despite their disadvantage of few members. They have to focus on getting take-downs and getting ahead early in the game.
“We need to remember what the coach taught us and we should do fine,” Conaty said.
