If you enjoy a good sci-fi-thriller, then Push, the latest movie of that genre to hit theaters, might be just what you’re looking for. Chris Evans and Dakota Fanning star as two exceptionally gifted individuals, Nick Gant and Cassie Holmes, respectively, who are just two of a small group of people around the world who have various extraordinary powers.
Nick is what is known as a “Mover,” meaning he has the ability to move objects with his mind, while Cassie is a “Watcher,” with the ability to see the future. Several others are “Pushers,” who can project false memories into the minds of those around them. Nick and Cassie, alongside others with exceptional abilities, are in a battle with a government agency known as the “Division,” which will stop at nothing to gain control of their powers in order to use them as weapons.
While Push is very interesting plot-wise (picture X-Men meets The Bourne Identity), much of its appeal came from the use of flashy effects and graphics. Many scenes leave the viewer confused and in several instances, there is little or no explanation later on. However, there are several unexpected plot twists, which help to keep the viewer interested right until the end. Overall, it is a must see for most science fiction enthusiasts.
