Girls swim team has last home meet, senior night

Last night the Lady Knights swim team crowded the pool deck in celebration of this year’s seniors. Maggie Officer, Kayla Thoma, Caitlin Stone, Lauren Thrasher, Brenna O’leary, Vicki Viehman, and Megan Woods walked across the bulk head at the Rec-Plex before their meet while their younger teammates met them with roses.

The younger girls also made the seniors scrapbooks, which they had given to them prior to the meet.

“It was really, really good,” Stone said. “I ended up crying.”

The team placed second in that meet, defeating St. Dominic but losing to Hannibal. Next, the girls will be swimming in the GAC conference meet at the Rec-Plex on Feb. 10-12. Tuesday will be prelims for the swimmers and Wednesday is diving (the Knights have no divers this year). Thursday will be finals for the swimmers and the final meet for the class of `09.
