Girls soccer program begins early with open gyms

Although tryouts will begin on March 2, the girls soccer program is getting off to an early start. On Saturday, Feb. 7, the first of three open gyms was held from 9:30 – noon.

“It lets you view the competition,” junior Bre Kinworthy said, “and it gets you exposed to the coaches.”

Open gyms are held in both the big and small gymnasiums for any girls interested in trying out. They are not mandatory events, but preferred. They consist of conditioning and scrimmaging. The coaches request that all participants come prepared with shinguards and indoor shoes.

The next two open gyms will be held Saturday Feb. 14 and Feb. 28 from 9:30 a.m. – noon.
