Cliché Zellweger film is perfect ‘chick flick’

The movie New in Town is a definitely a chick flick. It’s filled with drama, heartache, and maybe even a happy ending. You’ll have to go see the movie to find out.

Playing the lead female role in this movie is Renee Zellweger, who has also played in the movie Jerry Maguire. Her co-star is by Harry Connick, Jr. who played in Hope Floats.

Zellweger plays a woman named Lucy Hill. Lucy is your average city girl except for one difference: she has worked really hard to get everything that she has. She has a very high position at the company that she works at and she is trying to become an executive of her company as well. In the movie she has everything any girl would ever ask for. She has a great job, the best looking cars, and some amazingly cute shoes as well. But there is one thing missing from her life: love. Lucy isn’t in love but she seems to be OK with that, until she meets a gorgeous fireman named Ted Mitchell, Connick’s character.

Lucy is sent to the middle of nowhere when her company is trying to make cuts to one of their plants. She is greeted by what seem to be odd customs to her since she is from the big city. She is welcomed with open arms by a woman who soon becomes her really good friend, named Blanche. Blanche is played by Siobhan Fallon. Lucy is somewhat upset that she has been sent to the middle of nowhere, to be with people she finds very strange – or so she thought. Lucy gets stranded during a snow storm and who better to save her then the gorgeous fireman, Ted.

During Lucy’s stay in town, she and Ted have definitely had some run-ins with each other, and not good ones. But after this night she seems to be smitten with him and him with her. These two people went from hating each other to seeming as though there might be something between them after all.

Things seem to be looking up for Lucy, as her connection with Ted soon becomes something a lot stronger. But her dreams of him being the love of her life soon come crashing down around her when Blanche sees the paper that have the names of the workers that are suppose to get cut on it. She then proceeds to tell all the towns people, including Ted. Lucy then has to gain back the trust of the town and Ted all while trying to save the plant from an even bigger problem. Will Lucy get her happily ever after or will her plan fall to pieces at the last second? Go see the movie New in Town to find out.
