Annual Coffe House has great turnout, performances

For the past two days the library has been filled with more than just quiet reading and computer work. Instead, it was filled with the sounds of music, poetry, and comedy during the sixth annual North Street Coffee House.

The coffee house has become a North tradition where students can enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and cookies while the brave ones can show off their talent. Junior Deb Verdone performed an original poem along with her friend Kathryn Hedlund. This was their first year participating.

“I was not so much more nervous but anxious that I wanted to do my best,” Verdone said.

The coffee house had over 35 performers that each had their own spin to the fine arts displayed in the event. The performers were divided into two groups, that were assigned either Thursday or Friday to perform. Not only was there refreshments and performances, but also a large display of submitted art work that students had the chance to look at before and after the show.

“It was really good and I thought it was much better this year because there was a lot of variety,” junior Lauren Brown said.

Students had the opportunity to go down to the coffee house during their communication arts class. For most students it was a well enjoyed event that brought them the chance to support their peers and change up an otherwise normal school day.

“Everybody gets to bring in their original stuff and it’s really cool to see,” Brown said.
