In choir classes, students will be put out of their comfort zone if they plan on performing at the annual dinner concert. The dinner concert will be held in May; it’s an event where anyone can attend and expect to have great food, great service, and hear some great performances.
Senior Noah Ellison and junior Jessica Payne are auditioning with the song “Kids” from the musical Bye Bye Birdy.
“I am nervous because I didn’t get to practice as much as I would have liked and I have to try out in front of the class,” Ellison said.
Though Ellison is nervous for the tryouts, he is looking forward to singing the song because he thinks it’s a good song.
“It’s a funny song,” Ellison said. “It’s about a husband and wife complaining about their kids.”
Many other people are also hoping to do well at the auditions. Junior Christina Woods and Lesley Gains are performing “Who Will Love Me As I Am” from the musical Side Show.
“It’s really pretty and has good harmony in it,” Woods said.
After final performers are decided, they will start preparing for the dinner concert. Along with the single performers, different choir groups will also be entertaining: Treble choir, Concert choir, and Knightsound all perform melodies.
“The dinner concert is fun because you get to watch all the different acts,” Woods said.
