During sixth and seventh hour, 18 students attended the Knight Readers book discussion. At every book discussion, they have snacks and give away an attendance prize, as well as discuss the book for that month.
“We discuss what we like, what we don’t. We talk about the language in the book and the standard literary elements,” librarian Sherri Pogue said.
This month they discussed Call of the Wild by Jack London. Call of the Wild was chosen because it a part of the St. Charles City-County Library District’s “Big Read.”
“We have usually been doing two Gateways a year and two others we think that will appeal,” Pogue said.
The next book discussion will be on May 1, and they will be discussing Rooftop by Paul Volponi.
