The St.Louis Blues took on rivals Detroit Red Wings on March 3 at Scott Trade Center. The Blues were looking for a big win for a push to the playoffs but lost 5-0. Although the Blues had their twenty-second sell out of the year, they came up short against a high powered Red Wings team.
The Blues only mustered 22 shots while Detroit had 36 shots; the Blues did not help their chances with having nine penalties for a total time of 21 minutes.
“I was disappointed with the Blues’ performance,” sophomore Jeremy Ellis said. “They did not play to the best of their ability.”
Detroit’s star player Marian Hossa was out for most of the game after slamming head-first into the boards in the first period and was hospitalized after the game, but should be back for their next game against Colorado.The Blues are now four points out of a playoff spot after the loss to Detroit, and their next game is on Friday, March 6 in Tampa Bay against the Lighting.
“The town seems captivated right now. Everyone seems to be on the bandwagon and hope the Blues can make it back to the playoffs where they belong and we remember them being for so long,” sophomore Brian Dykes said
