“The Boss” is back and still rocking hard with his twenty-fourth album to date, Working on a Dream. This album really opened my eyes to Bruce Springsteen’s music, and although I have only been a fan of his for a short time, I’m sure I will be for years to come.

His newest album, which he promoted at the halftime show of Super Bowl XLIII on Feb. 1, was a pleasant surprise for me. Typically, I listen to alternative and classic hard rock, so I was naturally skeptical at first, but I couldn’t help but hum along with several catchy tracks. One song that stands out in my memory was “Surprise, Surprise,” whose simple, single-word chorus enables the rest of the song to stick in the listener’s mind very easily.

Compared to some of Bruce Springsteen’s earlier music, many of the tracks found on Working on a Dream could be called soft rock, and several, including “The Last Carnival,” would not be out of place on a country music radio station.

All in all, I believe many people would find enjoyment in Working on a Dream and it would be to their benefit to consider giving it a listen.
