On Friday, March 6, the Community Service Learning Program hosted North’s third annual blood drive in the big gym.
“I think it’s a great community service project,” sponsor Kellie Hausner said, “for students to experience giving back to the community.”
Approximately 220 students signed up to donate blood to the cause. Around 4.5 million people need blood transfusions each year in the United States alone, so by donating blood students and teachers were helping save people who are in desperate need.
“I gave blood because I’m O-negative and everyone can use that,” senior Nick Labath said. “And I think it’s just a good thing to help people who could die without my blood.”
