Remember when Pokémon was the biggest thing on Earth? Well for Senior Dylan Smith it’s something that he’ll never forget. Smith is in charge of this year’s Pokémon tournament.
It’s being held at B and B, on April 4 at 3 p.m. This Pokémon tournament is all about having fun, and reliving the good ol’ Pokémon Gameboy-playing days.
Smith has organized this entire tournament this year by himself. Last year he had the help of graduate Tyler Baxley. Although there isn’t an actual sign up sheet, anyone can participate by confirming on Facebook’s Pokémon tournament group, or that day at 2:30 p.m. Right now the tournament has about 15 gamers, but he’s hoping for more.
Cash prizes are being rewarded to first and second place; the amount they’ll be receiving depends on how many people show up. This Pokémon tournament only allows players to only play the red, blue, and yellow versions.
“I’m hoping to get money, and to show people not to be scared of liking Pokémon because, it’s apart of our generation,” Smith said. “It’s not going anywhere, so why not embrace it?”
