Last week’s hat day caused a postponement of Volunteer Knight’s luau-themed hat day. The event had been scheduled for this Wednesday, March 11.

“Someone else had a date last week so we moved it to April,” sponsor Kelly Hausner said. “I’m thinking it’s going to be the Wednesday before Good Friday.”

This slight change in plans is not expected to affect the club’s fundraising for charity or the club’s funding. They are confident in other fundraisers and have decided to focus on future events.

“We’re going to do other fundraising, so it will be OK,” Hausner said.

Volunteer Knights had put a lot of work into planning the event and making it as creative and unique as possible. The added bonus of receiving a lei is intended to increase awareness and sales. Students are expected to have a very positive reaction to the twist in an otherwise normal fundraiser.

“They will get a lei when they pay for the hat,” Hausner said. “If they don’t want to wear a hat they can still buy a lei and wear it.”
