‘Conchords’ brings musical comedy to HBO

Comedy is one of my favorite forms of entertainment – if not my favorite. One day I was flipping through the channels and stumbled upon this comical, funny new show.

Flight of the Conchords is a fun-loving show that follows the antics of a “digi-folk,” which is a folk guitar band like Simon and Garfunkel, two-man band from New Zealand that moved into an apartment in New York City to try to make a name for themselves.

The band consists of Brett McKenzie on guitar and vocals, and Jemaine Clement also on guitar and vocals. They’ve managed to make one over obsessive fan, Mel, one friend/pawn shop owner, Dave, and a band manager who is also New Zealand’s Cultural Attache, Murray.

Granted this show has a tiny, tiny bit of swearing, I would recommend this show for people who enjoy a good laugh and a song to go with it. Songs are played that are related to their situations from “The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)” to Korean karaoke songs, to name a few.

To me, it is not so much like to many other comedies that I have seen before. If you would like to check out this show, you can find it on Sundays at 10 p.m. on HBO.
