Ecology club is selling t-shirts for earth day all this week and the week after spring break, March 23 through March 27.
“There are actually two designs because we figured out that it would not make a difference if we sold different shirts so we decided to give people more options and go with two shirts instead of one,” President Erin Connaughton said. “One shirt is lime green and the other one is forest green and they both have frogs on them and both say ‘BE GREEN and CELEBRATE EARTH DAY.’”
The club wanted to do something to fundraise and celebrate earth day with some sort of school effort.
“Brocksmith got the design in the mail from earthday.com and I decided that we could make some money by selling them,” Connaughton said. “I decided that we could raise money another way since we raised money picking up trash last year when we should be doing that anyways.”
On Saturday, March 28 club members will head to the Katy Trail for their first trash pick-up of the year.
Money raised from selling t-shirts will help the ecology club finish the outdoor classroom.
“There will be nice benches so that people can actually have a nice place to sit and learn,” Connaughton said.
Connaughton has been in the club for two years and is really trying to make an impact.
“I want to develop ecology club so that it is an actual club before I leave so that it will continue as a successful club,” Connaughton said.
