Prom memories: Worth the cost?

As April approaches, juniors and seniors get more and more excited about Prom. As the guys look into a renting a tux for the evening, the girls get to go shopping and look for expensive and angelic dresses and accessories to match.

Guys try to muscle up the courage to ask the girl they like, or they already have a girlfriend which will take the pressure off that subject. I think one thing that all students and parents alike notice, is one word can describe prom: expensive!
I pay for a lot of things that I need and would like to have and one more expense is going to keep the wallet empty a little bit longer. I was trying to figure out how much two tickets are going to cost since I recently found a date. It is going to be a nice $130 for two tickets. At first I thought I did the math work wrong, but it is correct. The girl I asked offered to buy for her ticket but honestly I know it is expensive, but guys you better be buying two tickets if you have a date. I will admit I wanted to just be like, OK that is fine but I like being a gentlemen, it was how I was raised and even though it is pricey, I will be handing $130 in the coming days to the junior class.
Now that we covered tickets, let’s move on to how outrageous some dresses cost for the girls. I was talking to some girls who are paying $300 to $400 for a dress that, I will remind you, they will wear one time. I know it is worth it to most girls to look like a princess for one night with the hair, nails, and dress. For some girls though, they are not going to their senior prom because it will cost an arm and a leg and half a nose. That is not it though; let’s not forget the tux or the transportation. For the guys we get a bit of a easier route with getting to rent a tux instead of having to buy it. It still is pretty expensive but nowhere near what the girls have to pay for attire. Let’s not forget that some people like to arrive in style so there is a extra bonus of paying for a limo driver but some students get around that with having nice vehicles but most like to go all out.
We cant really put the blame on anybody, it just that we are students and with most of us not having jobs and some parents not employed either it is hard to afford for this very exciting night for all the students who will be attending. I hope that the night is full of good memories and we all remember this night since we are all putting hard work and much money into this night.
