Have you ever been in an elevator and noticed that there is a floor missing. No, it’s not a haunted building. The thirteenth floor is not there. This is also the same with some hospitals that do not have a thirteenth room.
I decided to look more into this little evil, superstitious number.
The number thirteen has ravaged history ever since the biblical times. This dates back to the last supper. Thirteen guests attended and the thirteenth guest, Judas, betrayed Jesus. Ever since then, this superstition still infiltrates society today.
To me this is just a really big coincidence that you can mostly find connections between things if you decide to look into it long enough. Yet, it is a fun thing to believe, kind of like Groundhog Day. There is always going to be six more weeks of winter. Now, I’m not saying that I don’t believe in luck. It’s just that nothing bad has ever really happened to me on Friday the 13th as far as I can remember.
Some fun facts that you might have not known is that if the month starts on a Sunday, there is going to be a Friday the 13th. If you so happen to have a fear of Friday the 13th, you have paraskavedekatriaphobia. It is derived from the Greek words paraskevÍ (Friday), dekatreÍs (thirteen), and phobÍa (fear).
Personally I don’t believe in the unlucky misfortunes of Friday the 13th. But it will definitely be in the back of my thoughts if something so unfortunate were to happen to me on that specific day.
