On March 25 the sophomores and juniors of National Honor Society were officially inducted. The ceremony began at 7 p.m., where the new members entered the auditorium full of family and friends carrying candles.

After all the candles were placed on the stage, Dean of Students, Tom Potteiger, gave the opening speech.

As the ceremony continued, the inductees recited the NHS pledge, accepted their certificate, and signed their name in the logbook. The new officers were also inducted at this time.

The senior officers called each successor up to the podium to hand over the stoles. The new officers include President Rukhaiya Amir, Vice President Ryan Firle, Secretary Jose Pagan, Treasurer Jacy Waldrop, and Historian Brittany Stanley.

“I think that the new officers will do just as good as a job being leaders of the school and as go-to people if the school and community need help,” NHS sponsor Angela Mason said.

After the ceremony, family, friends, and NHS members gathered in the lower entrence hallway to enjoy refreshments provided by JNHS.
