Volunteer Knights hope for large turnout at new BBQ

This Saturday, during the JV baseball tournament at North, the fields will be filled with smells other than the normal sweat and dirt, but rather of sweet smoky BBQ. Volunteer Knights is holding their first ever BBQ for a fun and new type of fundraiser.

“I think it’s going to be a lot of fun and we are going to make a lot of money,” senior Volunteer Knights member Kaitlyn Hunter said.

The idea was new and fresh for the club, and the students were in charge of putting everything together and the preparation.

“They got together the menu and they came up with the idea to do it at school,” sponsor Kelly Hausner said. “I wanted to do it off campus.”

The BBQ will take place during the JV baseball games from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Prices for the food will vary and all proceeds will go to either the club itself or be donated to charity. The organization has yet to make that decision. However a supportive crowd is expected to attend.

“We’re expecting a big turnout because there’s going to be a lot of people at the games and they’re going to be hungry,” Hunter said.
