End of year means freedom for some students

We are approaching the last few months of the 2008-09 school year and for seniors it will be their last few months at FHN.

As liberating and exciting this might be to students, it brings a sense of sadness to life-long friends and cliques that never wanted to think about saying a tearful goodbye.

Yes, friends might be going to the same college, but to others it is the beginning of a long distance friendship. When friends see each other when they are back in town for breaks, it makes it that much more emotional after not seeing them for so long.

With the end of the school year also brings something that students never like to think about: finals. The all-night studying, constant review packets, and a halt to your social life as you know it. After all of that, however, accomplishing these tedious yet mandatory tests make students feel like a 10-pound weight has been lifted from their shoulders. Finding out that you did well on the final feels like a 20-pound weight has been lifted. Knowing that you have to do it all over again, well, that thought is in the very back of students minds during the three-month summer break they have been counting down to since the beginning of the school year.
