From March 23-28 North’s Varsity baseball team was competing in the Troy Buchannan Tournament. There were about 16 teams from many different schools, ready to see how they would compare to the other Varsity teams.

“I think the tournament was a great way to start off the season because we got to see some of the most competitive teams in the area, and we were able to see where we stood as a team,” junior Zack Short said.

On March 23 the team defeated Desmet with a 5-2 game and Seckman with a 27-6 game. Later that week on March 26, the team won against Timberland with a score of 8-7. The team’s first loss came on March 27 against Hillsboro with a 9-2 game.

“Well we were 3-1, but I think we did just fine,” junior Robby Friedlein said. “I think we could have gone 4-0 and done better.”

The teams next game is March 31 against Rockbridge High School. The team hopes to continue to use their skills to win more games.

“I think the tournament showed that we have good potential to win a lot of games this year, but we still need to work hard and stay focused in order to do that,” Friedlein said.
