Mu Alpha Theta hosted the first ever Bingo Night on Tuesday, March 31. Sponsor Val VanDerBeck was very happy with the Mu Alpha Theta members.
“The kids put a lot of work into it,” VanDerBeck said.
Approximately 70 people showed up to Bingo Night.
“It was intense,” Soo Yang, junior and Mu Alpha Theta officer, said.
Bingo Night started at 6 p.m. and ended at 8:20. Among the many prizes given out, there were gift cards for iTunes, QT, Panera Bread Company, a blender, and many baskets full of goodies ranging from “Kiss the Cook” and “Game Wiz,” to “Movie Night” and “Summer Fun.”
The donations came from businesses, other clubs, and even the Mu Alpha Theta members. Numerous people enjoyed Bingo Night.
“I loved the thrill of yelling ‘BINGO!’ really loud,” junior Connor Usry said.
Compared to things Mu Alpha Theta has done in the past, Pam Stratton thinks Bingo Night was just as good. “It’s right up there,” Stratton said. “A good time was had by all.”
Reactions to Bingo Night varied some but there was one thing many attendees agreed on, the snacks were great.
“I think I ate all of them,” Stratton said, “popcorn, cookies, brownies, and soda.”
A lot of hard work and planning went into Bingo Night. Two lucky seniors receive those scholarships. Last year, the group hosted a trivia night.
“Well, we raise [money] for the scholarships and it’s just a fun time for the members to work together,” VanDerBeck said.
Members showed up at 5 p.m. to start setting up. They had been planning Bingo Night for a month.
“[Bingo Night was] something that other clubs don’t do,” VanDerBeck said.
Upcoming Mu Alpha Theta events include the induction ceremony for new members at the end of the year and math competitions next year.
