I decided to stay after soccer practice on Wednesday to watch the baseball game. After the game, I was walking back to my car with some friends when I saw something very strange.
There was a man coming up the street from Henderson riding a unicycle into the parking lot here at North. Well, there was no way we’re going to let him go without talking to him first.
Of course, at first, we were a little suspicious of why a grown man was spending his night riding around on a unicylce, but after talking to him, I realized it was just his hobby. His first child had started riding nine years ago and now even performs while his younger child is just starting to learn.
You know, the whole time we were there we never even got his name or anything, but he was so nice to us. He let us all try (and fail miserably) to ride it while he did his best to help teach us. It actually turned out to be a pretty eventful night and opened my eyes to the fact that hobbies don’t have to be sports or clubs. It is just something you do that you enjoy and love. This night was also just an important reminder of all of the great, unique, and inspirational people I have met at school. From teachers, to students, to parents, to unicyclers North sure does have it all.
