15th annual Friday Knight Relays

Hundreds of athletes. Eight teams. One goal.
This goal, winning as many events as possible, was very evident for the Varsity track team as the guys earned first place overall and the girls earned second place overall.

One such event that the guys dominated was the 8×200 relays. This is where eight guys each run 200 meters and hand the baton off to the next guy in the relay. After the first 200 meters, the Knights were in the middle of the pack, but when the baton was handed off to junior Anthony Jackson for the next 200, he got them back in contention with a tie for first place. Junior Nick DiMarco was next and he took it upon himself to get the Knights a significant lead by 20-30 meters. The Knights didn’t look back and ran to the finish line with any easy win.
One event that the Knights dominated on the girls side was the 4×1600 relay. This is event is very demanding as four girls each run one mile.
It seemed as though the Knights were struggling throughout the first three miles of the race, but this was the exact opposite of what was transpiring. It was actually a perfectly ran race as the Knights sat back in third place nearly the whole race until they handed the baton over to their anchor runner, sophomore Coleen Grone. She performed her job exactly as planned and took over first place to win the race.
Other notable highlights of the Relays were Kyle Morse earning second in pole vaulting, Nick DiMarco earning second in the 300 meter hurdles, and the girls 4×100 meter relay earning first place.
