DECA brings back baked cookies to fund Nationals

At 6:30 a.m. this morning seniors Sarah Henke, Alyssa Fixley, and Lauren Deckard were already prepared to start baking. They placed each piece of dough on pans and continued to place them in the ovens with the

anticipation of many students buying the Otis Spunkmeyer cookies. The cookies were sold last year and DECA students got the unfortunate news that they could not be sold this year due to not meeting nutritional standards.

“We only got approved to sell them for this week,” Henke said. “We thought it would be good for all the prom excitement and will help with next year’s FBLA and DECA accounts.”

The cookies will be sold for $1 before school and between passing periods until third hour. The money raised this week will primarily support the DECA students traveling to Anaheim, Calif. for Nationals.

“I’m just excited to make money, so we can go to Nationals and sit on the beach,” Deckard said.

The cookies can be sold because they are wheat cookies, so they meet the nutritional standards. DECA is anticipating a large amount of sales this week.
