I recently came across the book “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch. It is a story about a college professor who gets pancreatic cancer and is not given very long to live.
He got the opportunity to give his class a last lecture, but decided not to dwell on the fact that he is dying, but instead, highlight the ways that he made a good life for himself and his family. When I first started reading the book I was expecting it to be all about him dying. However, I was very surprised to find it uplifting and inspiring. Of course I cried since it doesn’t take much to make me shed a tear, but because his story is true, I couldn’t help but wonder how his family will cope if he dies. His kids are too young to understand what is happening to him, so he just tries to spend as much time with them as he can. I would definitely recommend
this book to someone who needs reassurance in their life or who just wants a good read.
