School trips don’t come around often for students, sometimes never. But for the Physics classes it will be quite the opposite on April 24 as they load on to a bus, and travel to Six Flags for an exciting and educational field trip.
“We’ve been going to Six Flags probably for the past 10 years,” Physics teacher Tony Roungon said.
Not only will all the Physics classes be going, but both of Calculus teacher Steven Willott’s classes will be going as well. This is because some the material covered in Physics is also covered in Calculus.
“In class you get to talk about some Physics or Calculus principles and how the two courses relate,” Willott, a board certified teacher, said. “But if you’re at the park you get to see it, you feel it, you get to hear it.”
This amusement park trip is more than just an action packed day of frolic; it is an assignment to calculate force, acceleration, and several other Physics and Calculus terms that are used within the classroom.
“The purpose of going to Six flags is it gives the students an opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in Physics throughout the year to real world situations,” Roungon said.
Several students that are going on this field trip are anticipating
not only a really good time but a chance to bond with their friends.
“[I might spend my time] just hanging -out with my friends,” senior Jennifer Raster said. “I’m going to have a blast!”
