New ‘Fast and Furious’ flick is full of unoriginality

I’ve always been a fan of The Fast and the Furious movies. OK, that’s a lie. I only like the first one. The third movie, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, is tolerable,

mostly because my man Lucas Black is in it. As for the second one, well, I’d rather watch The Wiggles with my three-year-old cousin for 48 hours straight than sit through 2 Fast 2 Furious again. Still, my older brother somehow convinced me to go with him last Saturday night to see the fourth installment, Fast and Furious. Later I was convinced to pay for his ticket – but that’s another story.

Aside from having the least creative names I’ve ever heard – The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and Fast and Furious – the story lines aren’t anything new. Sure, we’ve added some attractive actors and actresses and some even better looking cars, but the basic scenario has been done a thousand times; good guy befriends bad guy, good guy and bad guy become best buds, bad guy discovers good guy is a good guy and gets mad. I’m pretty sure you can find that happening just walking through the halls at North.

Fast and Furious is just a play off of the first movie. The one thing that did impress me about it was that all of the original actors were used for the characters. But I’m sorry Vin, you’re age is beginning to show. The love interest between now FBI agent Brain O’Conner and Mia Toretto continues, of course, and Dominic Toretto is out for revenge when his long time girlfriend, Letty, is murdered.

I won’t give away anything important, you’ll have to sleep through the movie just like everyone else to find out. Personally, I’m tired of these sequels to great films that are just a waste of money at the studios and at the movie theater ticket counter. I rarely go to the movies anymore, just because there’s a severe drought in the creativity of the writers in Hollywood these days. Fast and Furious, unfortunately, didn’t even drop a single raindrop on it.
