Small duck, Daisy, finds home near North’s front door

If you walk out the front doors of FHN and look to the right, in the very corner blended in with the mulch, you will see the new inhabitant of FHN. Supervisor of security,

Erese Squires first discovered this new inhabitant last summer when school was out and saw her again about three weeks ago.

“I think she keeps coming back here because she was hatched here and now she just comes back to her home,” Squires said.

This new inhabitant is a duck that Squires named Daisy. She now sits in the front of the school on top of her eggs that she had laid.

“She use to come and go to get food and things, but now she is there all day, so I throw her some bread to feed her,” Squires said.

Even though the duck is right in front of the school, Daisy is not bothered by the students because not many students know she is even there.

“I didn’t even know about the duck,” junior Melissa Alexander said. “When I heard about her I went to go look and I couldn’t find her because she blended in with the ground.”

Daisy has now laid about 12 eggs, laying about once a day for the past couple weeks.

“I can’t wait till the little ducks hatch,” Alexander said. “It’s going to be so cute seeing them around the school.”
