Spak asks why sci-fi thrillers, films are being knocked when they offer technological advances

Ever since the late 1900s there have been many ideas that have inspired many people and many things. One of these ideas was one of the best ideas to surface, and it was known as science fiction.

This particular idea has opened up the minds of many people to things that they might have never imagined. What I want to know is why a lot of people think that some sci-fi is stupid and a waste of time?

It has been used to make hundreds of books and entertainment for people to enjoy. Most of the popular and well known sci-fi pieces would be Star Wars, Star Trek, Twilight, Stargate, The Dark Knight, and even Halo; these are only a few titles from all of the sci-fi novels and movies, and even shows, that have been thought up and even created.

My point is, that it is not a waste of time and thought at all. It has been used to make advances in technology using ideas that people have come up with. For instance, when Star Wars came out, it introduced us to lasers and flying ships. Well, some scientists took that idea and made a laser for the U.S. military that can take down a missile or plane in just a few seconds with deadly accuracy. Another idea that the military has taken is from a popular video game called Halo which players were able to use a mobile vehicle, the Warthog, to transport soldiers and equipment across the battlefield in a short time. An automotive company, Jeep, has made a contract with the military to start constructing mobile army units based off of the Warthog to help get troops where they need to be quicker and more safely.

These are only some of the ways it has been able to influence the thinking of many people now and many more people in the future. Still, I wonder why people think that it is stupid because it really isn’t. It’s just another way of thinking and projecting thoughts across to others. I think it has helped us more than people realize, I mean, where would we be today without it?
