It’s another growing fad among teenagers these days. It’s another harmful way that society is influencing our generation’s views on “beauty.” It’s another way for teens to get tan.
As prom is approaching, teenage girls are craving to look “perfect” in their new dresses. Even when summer is two months away, girls claim that they want to get a head start on their summer glow.
Honestly, replace the natural sun with tanning beds just beaming off cancerous ultraviolet rays. Honestly, how can these girls just lay there for minutes knowing and willingly aware of the harm they are doing to their bodies, when so many others out in the world are living so carefully and still are fighting fatal diseases? Honestly, put your body in danger of death, and all for what? This so called beauty?
Don’t get me wrong, I understand that in today’s day and age, the business world we live in does not exactly allow any vacation time every other month to lay out on the beaches of Florida. Tanning salons do allow for a quick tanning glow to the skin, which to some may be appealing.
All I am saying is to think about your body, your future, your life. Ten minutes in a tanning bed can affect the rest of your life. Would you rather be tan and live a short life, or look just as natural as if you did not tan and live a healthier life. It is your decision.
