On April 16, the FHC soccer field was full of Knights and Spartans, anxious to win this game because of the long-standing rivalry. The Lady Knights bounced back from their last game against St. Charles West,
claiming yet another win for their team. The final score resulted in 2-1. The team feels as if they had made up for their first loss of the season earlier in the week.
“We were really frustrated about losing,” sophomore Brooke Oostendorp said. “We wanted to come out and show everyone we are a good team.”
The field was not only full of players, but yellow cards as well. Four yellow cards were given out during the game, including FHN’s very own Coach Vince Nowak. The rest were given to FHC players. The FHC coach was threatened several times, but never received one himself. Junior goalie Jacy Waldrop was injured in the last half of the game, which increased the tension even more.
“In the first half, [FHC was winning] 1-0,” Oostendorp said. “They had most of the momentum and were winning most of the balls. The second half, we came out strong and scored a goal and took the momentum, and scored another one after that.”
